Usually a blocked vent tube, a worn whistle or a hardened gasket letting steam escape. All three are quick, inexpensive fixes at the counter — bring the cooker in and we'll check it while you wait.

Do you repair Prestige and Hawkins cookers?

Yes — genuine Prestige and Hawkins gaskets, whistles, safety valves and handles are kept in stock, and we repair other brands too when parts are available.

How often should the cooker gasket be changed?

When it hardens, cracks or the lid starts leaking steam — for a daily-use cooker that's typically once a year. A fresh gasket also brings the whistle timing back to normal.

Is it safe to keep using a cooker whose safety valve has fused?

No — the safety valve is the cooker's emergency release and must be replaced before the cooker is used again. It's a small part we replace on the spot.
